Armand Hammer United World College
Hwy 65, PO Box 248, Montezuma, NM 87731
One of 12 United World colleges, the school provides an international education emphasizing the two-year International Baccalaureate curriculum and community service. Cocurricular programs addressing conflict resolution and global issues are also integral to school life. Wilderness training and a 10-day project week in March allow students to pursue community and individual interests, and boys and girls also may participate in various cross-cultural experiences. First-year students travel to cities across the Southwest to perform community service and study the region's history and culture. The student body is predominantly international, with roughly three-quarters of UWC's pupils enrolling from other countries. All American students receive full Davis Scholarships covering tuition, room and board, and two years of study.
