American School in London
1 Waverly Pl, London, NW8 0NP England
ASL, the oldest American-curriculum school in the UK, was established to provide a US-style academic program for children of American business and government personnel on assignment in London. Enrichment courses from the modern language, computer and fine arts departments complement the core curriculum of English, math, science and history. Advanced Placement courses in all major disciplines are offered, as are a variety of electives. Fine arts trips and the international school athletic program foster strong cultural ties with Continental Europe. While the enrollment is approximately 70 percent American, the school accepts pupils of all nationalities, including non-English speakers under age 12, who meet entry requirements. Graduates attend competitive colleges in the US, the UK and elsewhere in the world. ASL's location on a three-acre site in central London allows students to take advantage of the city's theaters, art galleries and museums as part of curriculum-related field trips. The school operates a bus service covering most of north and central London.
