Founded by Francis B. Allen, the school merged in 1904 with the one started by Robert A. Stevenson. Allen-Stevenson's traditional curriculum prepares students for entrance to secondary schools. In addition to the basic subjects, the curriculum includes foreign language, computers, shop, music, art and physical education. Allen-Stevenson's after-school program, Alligator Soup, features interscholastic and intramural sports, academic enrichment opportunities, homework assistance, supplementary foreign language instruction, cooking and outdoor education.
